Sowing and Reaping…

As I have mentioned previously most Monday my family and I spend our Sabbath in the patch. Over the past few weeks, for reasons beyond our control, we haven’t been able to do this. My wife and I made darn sure we spent the entire day out there yesterday. And what a day it was!

We managed to harvest 4 very healthy and good sized Cauliflowers, a number of beetroot, some Leek and two massive bunches of celery! My wife said the Cauliflowers were most likely headed for a soup to which I replied, “Amen!”

Well that was just the morning. In the afternoon we managed to plant a number of Zucchini and pumpkin seedlings, more potatoes, and two Apple trees! With half a dozen tomato plants almost ready for planting it seems most of our summer crop is in. I think we are waiting on corn seedlings and watermelon to pop up!

The only down side to all of this is a day playing in pea straw, compost and manure means my sinus’ are blocked nevertheless, after what was an incredibly busy and slightly stress filled week the patch once again provides my family and I a place to be with each other and God. I can see why God placed Adam and Eve in a garden. Shame they had to go and ruin it!

Peace be with you!
